I’ve been asked to present at this year’s JISC eLearning Fair at Chichester College ( 27th October).

Southampton Solent University is one of the UK’s newest universities, since becoming a university in July 2005 and officially changed their name on 15 August 2005. With just over 16,000 students, Solent has a huge commitment to social justice and aims to give every student real industry experience during their studies. To support this, Solent has spent four years researching and implementing the use of ePortfolios to aid career and personal development planning.
In 2010 Mahara, supported by the careers and employability department, was rolled out across the university. One of the original pilot projects, started in 2009, looked into how Mahara could be used to help final year journalism students create an online portfolio that could be used to promote themselves to potential employers. Three years on, the project is continuing and proving successful, with many students gaining employment prior to graduation.
This session will cover the background, implementation and examples of current projects that demonstrate how ePortfolios have been incorporated into Solent’s curriculum.
Hope to see some of you there!
